Biomedical Waste

Calgary Laboratory Services no longer provides disposal services nor issues supplies for disposal of Biomedical Waste (needle disposal included) to physician’s offices or medical clinics.  Arrangements can be made with a waste disposal company for supplies and disposal services.  They will also handle the paper work involved in tracking the disposal of the waste and provide you with the documentation required for your records.  "Sharps Disposal Containers" for needle disposal can be purchased from any of the medical supply vendors.  The waste disposal company can dispose of these containers along with other biomedical waste.  If you require any further information or assistance in setting up your Biomedical Waste program please contact our Environmental Health and Safety Coordinators.
