Minimum Blood Volumes for Patients less than 45 kg (100 lb), Including Neonates and PediatricsClick here for a table outlining the minimum volume of blood that can be drawn for an individual test on a patient weighing less than 45 kg (100 lb) NOTE: this includes neonates and pediatric patients. The blood volumes are listed in mL of whole blood unless otherwise specified as serum or plasma. HEMATOCRIT NOTE: The minimum volume required will increase as the Hematocrit increases from 40 L/L. PLEASE NOTE: The information provided in this table is for CLS purposes and is based on calculations for the instruments used in CLS testing departments.
