Mark the reqisition clearly as "Metabolic Bone Biopsy"

Specimen Handling and Transport

Submit a specimen in 70% ethanol in an appropriate sized plastic container. There should be sufficient 70% ethanol just to cover the specimen. Label the container according to CLS requirements. Containers must be securely tightened to eliminate any leakage.

Specimens collected after laboratory hours may be held at 4^oC until the next working day.

The specimen will be referred to Hôpital Saint-Luc, Montreal, Quebec.

Notes

70% Ethanol is available through the hospital site Histology lab. Please request it 24-48 hours in advance of the procedure.
