Specimen Handling and Transport

Place the specimen in a gauze pad saturated with sterile normal saline.  Place the gauze and specimen in a screw-capped container and label the container according to CLS requirements.

Forward to the histology lab IMMEDIATELY.

After normal hours, if you are querying Lymphoma, contact the pathologist on-call prior to doing a biopsy.
