Nerve BiopsyThe physician MUST book all nerve biopsies with Neuropathology (944-1576) at least 24 hours before the surgery: RequisitionCLS Surgical Pathology Specimen Handling and TransportPlace the specimen in a guaze pad moistened with sterile normal saline. Place the guaze and specimen in a screw-capped container. Label the container according to CLS requirements. The container must be securely tightened to eliminate any leakage. Place the container with the specimen in a larger container filled with ice. The specimen MUST be transported (on ice) to the histology laboratory immediately. The time of procedure should be such that the specimen is available to the laboratory no later than 2:00 pm to allow for proper handling of the specimen.
