Chromosome or FISH Studies

There are 2 laboratories in the Calgary Health Region that perform Chromosome and FISH Studies.  

If you are requesting chromosome or FISH studies on:

Bone Marrow
Blood for cancer/leukemia diagnosis or follow-up
Tumour tissue
Lymph nodes

These procedures are performed by Calgary Laboratory Services Cancer Cytogenetics laboratory. For more information click here.

If you are requesting chromosome or FISH studies on:

Blood - all other non-cancer
Amniotic fluid
Other tissue such as skin, placenta, fetal, etc.

These procedures are performed by the CHR Constitutional Cytogenetics laboratory located at the Alberta Children's Hospital. For specific information, click on the links.
