Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA's) - superficial palpable lesionsRequisitionCLS Cytopathology Specimen Handling and RequirementsUsing a 20-22 gauge needle, aspirate the lesion using multiple passes. Express the contents of the syringe into the Cytolyt container and rinse the needle in the same solution. An additional specimen collected in RPMI fluid is recommended on all FNA's for Flow Cytometric analysis. Send this specimen together with the Cytopathology specimen to the Cytopathology laboratory. Label the containers according to CLS requirements. Containers must be securely tightened to eliminate any leakage.
