Specimen Requirements	Adult: 1 x 5 mL lavender top EDTA tube Pediatric: 1 x 3 mL lavender top EDTA tube (1 mL blood sufficient) Whole blood DO NOT collect specimens after 1200 Fridays or on weekends or the day prior to statutory holidays. Tube MUST be completely filled. DO NOT open tube. PSC: All HIV positive collections are done at 8th & 8th Patient Service Centre.
Specimen Handling	Preserve specimen at 4ºC and deliver within 4 hrs of collection to FMC Flow Cytometry. Specimens from 8th & 8th must be sent by TDG regulations. Deliver directly to FMC- do not send to DSC. Dermatology patient specimens do not reguire TDG regulations.
Additional Information	PSC: All HIV positive collections are done at 8th & 8th PSC. All non-HIV related requests (including dermatology patients) can be collected at any PSC. Send specimen in a red topped STAT canister attaching a STAT and a FMC tag to the container. Place the canister at the designated location for the next scheduled courier pickup time. This test cannot be collected by Mobile Collection Services.
