Specimen Requirements

Blood
Adult: 1 x 8.5 mL yellow top ACD "A" tube

Pediatric: 1 x 2.7 mL blue top sodium citrate tube.

Lavender top EDTA tube is also acceptable; green top sodium heparin is NOT acceptable.

Bone Marrow
0.5 mL in Flow Bone Marrow Medium (BMM); BMM available from Flow Cytometry. Stable for 24 hours.

Specimen Handling DO NOT centrifuge or freeze.

Send specimens to FMC Flow Cytometry within 24 hours of collection.

DSC Accession: after 16:30, store at 4ºC.
Additional Information Flow Cytometry will sort post-transplant cells and forward to Molecular Hematology for Chimerism Testing.

Blood specimens must be accompanied by a Flow Cytometry requisition.
