Specimen Requirements

1 x 7 mL royal blue top non-additive tube (tubes available from CLS Referrals Department)

1 mL serum; minimum volume for pediatric patients: 250 µL serum.

Wear non-powdered gloves throughout blood collection.
Specimen Handling

PSC: Centrifuge, pour off in plastic Sarstedt tube (use plastic pipet, not glass), and transport serum on ice to DSC.

RRL & extra-regional: Centrifuge, pour off in plastic Sarstedt tube (use plastic pipet, not glass), and freeze serum prior to transport to DSC.
