Specimen Handling
Day 1: Collect a base level cortisol sometime during the day. Note time of collection on the tube.
At 2300 (11:00 p.m.) the same evening the patient takes 1 mg Dexamethasone orally. This is provided by the physician.
Day 2: At 0800 to 10:00 the next day collect specimen for a.m. cortisol.
At 8 hours later on the same day, collect specimen for p.m. cortisol.
