Fluid Cell Count - CSF

If differential is ordered enter both the cell count mnemonic CSFCC and the differential mnemonic CSFC

Place CSF fluid directly into pre-packaged sterile collection tubes
or 1 x 5 mL red top tube, NOT SST

1 mL CSF

Deliver to laboratory immediately, hand to lab personnel.

Note: all CSF specimens are sent to Hematology for distribution to other departments/divisions.
