Specimen Requirements	Adults: 3 x 5 mL (or 2 x 7 mL) lavender top EDTA tube, whole blood Pediatric: 2 x 3 mL tubes Infants: 2 to 3 mL Newborns: 1 mL (3 mL minimum for U of A testing) May be collected at any Patient Service Center Monday to Thursday only.
Specimen Handling	DO NOT centrifuge or separate specimen. DO NOT freeze. Transport specimen, along with ACH Molecular Diagnostic Lab requisition if available, at room temperature without delay. If overnight storage cannot be avoided, store in refrigerator (specimen must arrive at ACH before noon on Friday.) PSC: Transport to DSC. RRL: Transport to ACH.
