By appointment only.
Community patients: contact Patient Service Center of choice.
Hospital patients: nursing unit to book appointment with on-site lab. 

1 x 5 mL light green (mint) top PST tube for each timed specimen.  Gold top SST tube is also acceptable.

0.2 mL heparinized plasma or serum

Minimum Blood Volume for Patients less than 45 kg (100 lb) Including Neonates and Pediatrics

Patient MUST be fasting.

Blood collections are performed at the following intervals: fasting, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120 minutes.

 
Specimen Handling Procedure takes 2 hours.                             
Additional Information

Patient instruction sheet (form #CH3002) may be given to patient.

Order drink at least 2 days in advance.
Sloane Square & Marlborough PSC, & RRL: order from CLS Purchasing.
Other PSC sites: order from Sloane Square or Marlborough PSC.
Extra-regional: order from DSC Accession at 770-3245

All PSC & extra-regional: if patient weighs less than 25 kg (55 lb), order from DSC Accession at 770-3245 and state patient's weight.

Pediatrics: An alternate test is available from Pediatric
Gastroenterology, Alberta Children's Hospital, phone # 943-7286.  The alternate test is for patients older or equal to 5 years of age and not available for patients less than 5 years.
The alternate test is NOT AVAILABLE for adults.
