Stat Testing - Acute Care Sites

A STAT test should only be requested when it directly affects patient care in an urgent or emergency medical circumstance. 

STAT TAT is within 1 hour from time specimen is received in lab to time result is verified.

EXCEPTIONS: Troponin T are within 75 minutes. 
                        Pentobarbitol and Thiopental are within 6 hours.
                        Ethylene glycol, Isopropanol, and Methanol are within 180 minutes.
