Urine Drug Screens

1. Non-Medical Drug Screen, Chain of Custody (Patient Pay)

NOTE: 

CLS does not support “pre-testing” patients, in other words testing patients in advance or in preparation for employment or other drug testing.

This would include samples that are not required for immediate medical management of patients. A history form is not required.  There is a collection and testing fee for these samples.  Various panels can be ordered. Please be panel specific when ordering.  If a panel is not specified, the laboratory will default to a comprehensive drug screen.

Chain of custody drug screens are collected at four sites: Gulf Canada Square, Marlborough, Airdrie and South Calgary Health Centre. Appointments may be booked with the individual collection sites. When clients present from companies who do not have a billing account set up with CLS or DynaLife Dx Diagnostic Laboratory Services, a direct payment must be made at the time of collection. Collection of chain of custody specimens are not covered by Alberta Health Care.
Chain of custody handling ensures integrity of the specimen, and definitively tracks that there is no possibility of tampering with the sample during and after collection.  Specimens requiring chain of custody collection include pre-employment, employee related surveillance testing, probationary compliance, and testing for the Social Services Departments.  This list is not comprehensive.

2. Drug screen, medical

Occasionally, drug screens are required to medically manage the patient.
