Drugs of abuse screen for urine (only) is sufficiently sensitive to detect classes of drugs or drug metabolites in symptomatic patients.

Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol cannot be confirmed in neonates (0-31 days) due to immature metabolism (reference: Vilte E. Barakauskas, Rebecka Davis, Matthew D. Krasowski, and Gwendolyn A. McMilin. Clinical Chemistry 58:9 1364-1367 (2012) Unresolved Discrepancies between Cannabinoid Test Results for Infant Urine.)

Positive drug screening results are presumptive (unconfirmed) and are to be used for medical purposes only. If confirmation by mass spectrometry of a presumptive positive is clinically indicated, phone 403-770-3600 within 2 weeks of sample collection date.
