Specimen Handling

PSC & RRL:
Send specimens UNSPUN at room temperature to DSC Molecular   Hematology within 4 hours of collection.

Extra-regional:
Send lavender top tubes UNSPUN at room temperature to DSC Molecular Hematology within 24 hours of collection.
Centrifuge blue top tube at at 4ºC + 2ºC, at 3500 rpm for 20 minutes, aliquot plasma into 4 plastic tubes. Freeze and transport frozen to DSC Molecular Hematology.

DSC Accession:
After 16:30, store lavender top tubes at 4ºC. Centrifuge blue top tube at 4ºC + 2ºC, at 3500 rpm for 20 minutes, aliquot plasma into 4 plastic tubes, and freeze aliquots at -70ºC.  Do not discard original tube with cells; store at 4ºC.

Specimens must be accompanied with a copy of the original requisition. Include family history and ABO blood group.
