Note: preservative is acceptable for citrate testing if other tests requiring preservative are ordered on the same specimen.

 
Specimen Handling

PSC & RRL:
Transport on ice to DSC.

Extra-regional:
Freeze prior to transport to DSC.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
