Specimen Requirements

Test cannot be collected by Mobile Collection Service (MCS).

1 x 7 mL royal blue top red band non-additive tube (available from CLS Referrals Department).

1 mL serum; minimum volume for pediatric patients: 250 µL serum.

Wear non-powdered gloves throughout blood collection.
 
 
Specimen Handling

PSC & RRL:
Centrifuge, pour off in plastic Sarstedt tube (use plastic pipet, not glass), and transport serum to DSC.

Extra-regional:
Centrifuge, pour off in plastic Sarstedt tube (use plastic pipet, not glass), and freeze serum prior to transport to DSC.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
