| Specimen Handling | DO NOT centrifuge or separate specimen; keep/send at room temperature. Transport both tubes of blood, with requisition to the Cytogenetics Laboratory, Alberta Children's Hospital. PSC: Transport specimen at room temperature immediately to DSC. RRL: Transport specimen at room temperature immediately to ACH. Blood collected outside of regular hours will be stored at room temperature in ACH Chemistry or in DSC Referrals. Samples stored over the weekend in DSC Referrals will be forwarded to ACH Cytogenetics Lab on Monday morning. Regular hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:15 For urgent in-patient requests, contact the Medical Geneticist on call. | |
