Specimen Handling

Day 1:
Collect a base level cortisol sometime during the day.  Note time of collection on the tube.
At 23:00 (11:00 p.m.) the same evening, the patient takes 1 mg Dexamethasone orally, which is provided by the physician.

Day 2:
At 08:00 to 10:00 the next day collect specimen for a.m. cortisol.
At 8 hours later on the same day, collect specimen for p.m. cortisol.

Note time of collection on each tube.
