Specimen Requirements

1 x 3.5 mL gold top SST tube

2 mL serum

Avoid contact of blood with rubber stopper of collection tube.

Specimen Handling

Centrifuge as soon as possible and remove serum to plastic tube at the collection site. DO NOT transfer to a glass tube or use glass pipets.

PSC & RRL:
Transport serum to DSC.

Extra-regional:
Freeze serum prior to transport to DSC.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
