10 hour fasting specimen preferred.

 

Specimen Handling Record time of collection on requisition.

PSC & RRL:
Centrifuge and pour off.  Place samples on ice for transport to the DSC.

Extra-regional:
Centrifuge, pour off, and freeze serum prior to transport to DSC.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
