Specimen Requirements

Prefer 5-10 mL random urine.

Minimum: 1.0 mL urine.

Specimen Handling No preservative required.  Send a copy of the requisition with the specimen.  


PSC:
Transport on ice to DSC.

RRL:
Transport on ice to ACH.

Extra-regional:
Maintain frozen during transport to DSC. 

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
Additional Information This test is only recommended for the investigation of neuroblastoma in pediatric patients.  For investigation of pheochromocytoma in adults, "Metanephrines - Urine" testing is recommended.
