Specimen Requirements 1 x 4 mL red top tube. Lavender top EDTA tube is also acceptable.
Specimen Handling

Allow serum tube to fully clot before centrifugation. Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection.

PSC:
Centrifuge and transport serum or plasma on ice to DSC. Send specimen in a separate bag with a photocopy of the requisition.

RRL & extra-regional: 
Centrifuge and freeze serum or plasma prior to transport to DSC. Send specimen in a separate bag with a photocopy of the requisition.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
