Additional Information

Iron, TIBC and Transferrin Saturation will all be reported when Iron is ordered.

The concentration of iron in blood is subject to circadian variations, with the highest concentration occurring between 08:00 and 12:00.

Caution: The effect of iron chelating agents (e.g. deferoxamine) on serum/plasma iron levels is not clearly defined; iron level monitoring during therapy with these agents is not recommended. If required, testing may resume >24 hours after cessation of treatment.
