Specimen Requirements 2 x 5 mL aliquots of urine from second morning sample collection collected between 07:30 and 10:00.  Random and 24 hr urine also acceptable.  One aliquot is for urine creatinine.

Refrigerate during collection, no preservative.
Specimen Handling PSC & RRL:
Transport to DSC at room temperature.

Extra-regional:
Freeze specimens with "DSC IC NTX" on the label prior to transport to DSC. For specimen handling for the urine creatinine aliquot, see Creatinine, Urine - Extra-regional.

DSC:
Freeze specimens with "DSC IC NTX" on the label upon receipt in lab (do not freeze specimens with "DSC CHEM INTEGR" on the label); ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
Additional Information N-telopeptide is a bone resorption marker for osteoporosis.

Testing includes urine creatinine  - done at DSC Chemistry.
