Specimen Requirements

1 x 4 mL red top tube, NOT SST.

1.0 mL serum

Collect just prior to next dose.

Specimen Handling

Record the following on the requisition:

- time of last dose
- dosage regimen (amount and frequency)
- how long patient has been on drug at present dosage
- date and time of specimen collection


PSC & RRL:
Centrifuge, pour off serum, and transport on ice to DSC.

Extra-regional:
Centrifuge, pour off and freeze serum, then transport to DSC.

DSC:
Freeze specimens upon receipt in lab; ensure frozen specimens do not thaw.
