Viral Hemorrhagic Fever

For physicians:
If Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or other viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) is suspected, the ordering physician MUST contact the zone Medical Officer of Health by the fastest means possible. ANY and ALL laboratory testing for patients with suspected EVD or VHF MUST be coordinated through the local zone Medical Officer of Health.


DO NOT send patient to a CLS collection site (PSC or outpatient lab). Test cannot be collected by Mobile Collection Services (MCS).

For CLS staff:
If "Ebola" or "Viral Hemorrhagic Fever" is indicated on a requisition, immediately refer to the VHF Documents section of the BCERP manual.
