For the following patient populations and clinical syndromes, please see appropriate links for information on related testing available at Calgary Laboratory Services.

Adult and Adolescents (> 13 years).  For Pediatric (≤ 13 years) see below.

Cervicitis:
    Chlamydia trachomatis (CT)/Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT)
    Neisseria gonorrhea culture (treatment failure only) 

 Vaginitis:
    Trichomonas Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAAT)
    Bacterial Vaginosis/yeast
    Recurrent or treatment failure for vulvovaginal candidiasis
    Vaginal culture 

Urethritis:
    Chlamydia trachomatis (CT)/Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT)
    Trichomonas Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAAT)
    Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma Screen
    Neisseria gonorrhea culture (treatment failure only)

Proctitis:
    Chlamydia trachomatis (CT)/Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT)
    Neisseria gonorrhea culture (treatment failure only)

Other Genital Sources/Infections:

Specimen sources: Vulva, labia, introitus (≥ 13 years), episiotomy, endometrium, genital ulcer/sore, inguinal node aspirate or swab, excoriations, chancre/chancroid, Bartholin cyst/gland/abscess, penis,   penile discharge, foreskin, prepuce, glans penis, groin, perineum are treated as aerobic genital wound cultures.  These sites will not be set up for Neisseria gonorrhea unless specifically requested.

Vaginitis
    Vaginal or introitus culture (pediatric)
