Collect 5-10 mL into a FAN aerobic blood culture bottle or red top tube or sterile container.

Dialysate bags are NOT acceptable.
Specimen Handling DO NOT refrigerate.
Incubate Fan bottle at 35°C or store at room temperature.

 
Additional Information

Routine culture will detect most yeast species.
Indicate Candida/Yeast on requisition if required.

If clinically indicated, specimen source also suitable for
anaerobic culture.

Turnaround time for negative culture: 4 days.
