Acceptable specimen:
Adults:3 mL CSF
Neonates:  1.5 mL CSF

Submit CSF in sterile screw-cap tube or sterile container.
Specimen Handling DO NOT refrigerate.
Store specimen at room temperature.
Transport STAT.
Additional Information Cryptococcal antigen testing performed routinely.
Turnaround time for negative culture: 4 - 6 weeks.
