Specimen Requirements

Collect eye swab using  Gen-Probe® APTIMA® Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit.
Two swabs are provided with the kit. Use the blue shafted swab in the package with the green printing to collect the eye specimen. Submit the swab in the Gen-Probe® APTIMA® Swab Specimen Transport Tube. The white shafted swab is not required for eye specimen collection.

NOTE: This method has not been assessed/validated for eye specimens
Specimen Handling

Store specimens at 4°C or room temperature.

It is extremely important to follow single specimen packaging protocol for C. trachomatis/N. gonorroheae test specimens to prevent cross-contamination. Refer to Specimen Packaging Instructions.

Additional Information Molecular test  performed using nucleic acid amplification (NAA), a method similar to polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
