New Blood Culture Bottles

Effective May 28, 2012 CLS is transitioning to new blood culture bottles.
  • The new bottle names are the same with the exception of having a "Plus" at the end of the name, i.e.old - BacT/ALERT PF vs. new - BacT/ALERT PF Plus
  • The bottles look different due to the black charcoal being eliminated and replaced with resin beads
  • There is no change to the collection of the bottles
  • As you are transitioning to the new bottles, do not mix the old bottles with the new bottles, i.e. collect a new aerobic bottle with an old anaerobic bottle
