Calgary Laboratory Services is pleased to present Laboratory 101.
Our intention is to provide a one-stop overview of practical laboratory information related to adult blood collection and specimen labelling. Our target audience is nurses and physicians responsible for adult venipuncture.
Within Laboratory 101 we have inserted links for your convenience to additional helpful reference information.
We encourage nurse educators and physicians share this information in staff orientation or as a quick review tool.
To clarify, Laboratory 101 is not a complete training program, and should not be a replacement for a comprehensive phlebotomy training program.
Our hope is that Laboratory 101 will provide supplemental knowledge to nurses and physicians about Calgary Laboratory Services' labelling requirements, as well as a reminder of good blood collection practices.
