Warning to ordering physician: If ACUTE measles infection is suspected, the ordering physician MUST contact the zone Medical Officer of Health by the fastest means possible, as measles is a NOTIFIABLE disease.

To limit exposure to non-immune patients, when ACUTE infection is suspected, DO NOT send patient to a CLS collection site (PSC or outpatient lab) without prior direction from the Medical Officer of Health or designate. Alternate collection arrangements can be made.
