Specimen Requirements

Acceptable Prosthetic Device specimens: graft, implant, lens, etc.

Acceptable Implanted Medical Device specimens:
pacemaker leads (pacer tip) or any part of pacemaker, cement from joint revisions, screws or pins from bone reconstruction, pieces of joint reconstruction material (titanium, surgical steel, or plastic), pieces of skull plate.

Submit specimen in sterile container.
Specimen Handling

Store specimen at room temperature.

Turnaround time for negative culture: up to 4 weeks.
Additional Information Indicate specific fungal request on requisition.
